How easy is this?! Watch as Bavarian Otto installs the DICE Media Bridge with Bluetooth, allowing you to play and control your iPod/smartphone/USB device through your BMW’s or MINI’s sound system. Part 1 covers installing the unit and running the cable to the dash/console; part 2 shows how to install the connector in the glove box. These procedures also applies to the DICE SilverLine Duo (non-Bluetooth). Both products are available in our online store at www.bavauto.com

Video Integration into my 2007 BMW E90 (3 Series). Gadgets: – NV_BMW356 video module – a “CAN2ACC” module that provides switched ACC power, but only when other accessories are on (determined by CAN signaling) – Add-A-Circuit (fuse box to power adapter) – a spec.dock iPod dock – a iPhone composite out video cable (bought the expensive Apple one, if you go non-apple you need another jailbreak hack) – a black iPhone insert (iHome) – a jailbroken iPhone (yes, I still sport a 3GS) iPhone software (after jailbreak): – Display Out – Activator (for safer driving): – hold home for Display Out toggle – up+down for play/pause – down/up for fwd – hold down for Pandora – Landscape Lock Rotation (triggered via double-toggle of vibrate button, via Activator). – Brightness Activator (dims when plugging in, and back up when unplugging). NOTE: I forgot power wasn’t fully on in the car, only acc, that’s why it didn’t dim in the video. – Popup Blocker (so I never see annoying alerts about “interference” … ever notice they still come up even when you are already in airplane mode?) NOTE: I say in the video that it took me 12 hours. I think that’s a stretch, but it was a long time. I did a lot of investigation to figure out how to do it, I pulled things apart that I didn’t need to, and it all happened over several sessions … and might have been slowed a bit by beer. Also, I completely gloss over the connectors and soldering. Mostly I bought these connectors from RadioShaft, and soldered …

Day 10 of the Endeavour STS 130 mission to the International Space Station was a fantastic success. At the end of the third day of working in space, astronauts Nicholas Patrick and Robert Behnken had completed the installation of the cupola. They took off the shields and ISS crew inside were able to open the cupola shutters for that 360 degree 3D view of earth and space. President Obama had a video conference at 5:30 PM today to congratulate them on their mission success. The Italians who built the Tranquility Module with its cupola should be celebrating tonight.
A DIY project of an AUX-in modification to play music from an iPhone. This setup charges and use the voice control via bluetooth. The vehicle demostrated in this project is a 2005 BMW 745i. This solution automatically switches between FM and AUX by simply docking and undocking the iPhone. Pretty awesome!
